Artist Statement

Emma Godfrey is a Brisbane based contemporary artist. She received her B.F.A. at Queensland University of technology.Her practice explores the construction of poetic forms that are foreign and abstract. Creating an objective conversion, forcing the viewers to interpret the work for themselves. Organic and natural forms instigate her practice as she enhancing the serenity of the world through purity and innocence.

Powerful views are stimulated through her work, which are then constructed into aesthetically pleasing forms. This is done through nurturing instincts, as the materials are moulded through intricacy and structure. Allowing the work to stand strong and powerful so it can speak for itself.

Emma’s practise is developed through play as she allows her imagination to brake free, embracing her creativity to be removed from her mind and to be viewed in society, giving her work a fantasy like result.
